EBCOG – European Board and College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology

EBCOG Exam 2021- Purpose, Rules, Eligibility Criteria, Attempts

Since the year 2016, EBCOG (European Board & College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology) has been carrying out a final cumulative examination for specialty trainee doctors for the recognition of EFOG (European Fellowship in Obstetrics and Gynaecology) EFOG-EBCOG.

Following the implementation of the European Training Curriculum by EBCOG-UEMS, beginners have asked for fresh tools to be established for their decisive evaluation as they step forward through the training.

Now EBCOG is introducing a decisive evaluation tool for doctors near the beginning part of their professional training. This tool helps trainees to get ready for the final exam. This is for both training as well as non-training doctors all across the world and will act as a valuable tool for self-evaluation at the starting phase of their training.

This evaluation tool maps the freshly established EBCOG programme. There are 2 levels of evaluation: Assessment 1 and 2. Both can be undertaken at any time following the completion of 1st and 2nd year of training correspondingly.

These influential assessments are self-governing of the EFOG-EBCOG exam.

EBCOG examination is organized as per the norms set up by CESMA (Council for European Medical Specialist Assessments), an advisory body of UEMS.

Purpose of this exam:

  • The purpose of this exam is to evaluate the level of competency of the applicants (skills, knowledge, attitude, and judgment) at the agreed EU standard.
  • This facilitates the mobility of O&G right through the nations of the EU (European Union).
  • Passing this exam doesn’t imply a license to practise.
