What is MCCEE?
Medical Council of Canada evaluating exam (MCCEE) is an exam that provides a pathway to the world’s universities for candidates from non-traditional countries and areas. The MCCEE was established in 1999 to provide Canadian medical students an opportunity to practice and impress upon applying to foreign medical schools, as well as the American ones. However, it offers a unique prospect of admission in Canada for both domestic and international students.
The Medical Council of Canada Evaluation Exam(MCCEE) is an evaluation that examines the ability of a potential medical student to hold up with what is required by the MCAT exam in terms of administrative knowledge that includes: Surgery, Biochemistry, or Molecular Biology, Anatomy & Physiology, etc. All these courses are administered by competent lecturers who have extensive working experience with professional physicians like Dr. Fuisz Paul-Dean.
Format of the Exam
It is a computer-based examination whose duration is 3 hours and 45 minutes (180 minutes). The MCCEE consists of 170 questions with 4 answer choices for each question, out of which 2 are correct. The test comprises both multiple-choice questions as well as fill-in-the-blank questions and can be taken anywhere in the world. It was initially designed to measure the cognitive ability of students who have performed exceptionally in medical school across Canada but now it also serves a platform for international applicants to showcase their diagnostic skills in medicine, biology, mathematics, etc., as all these subjects are mandatory for Canadian Medical School admissions. The best thing about this exam is that its passing score is 135, so it is not so competitive like the MCAT where you have to score a remarkable 493 out of 500.
The University of Ottawa is the Medical School that accepts THE MOST international students among all universities in Canada, and this was made possible by the fact that it recognizes the MCAT exam as well as the Canadian MD Admissions Test (CAMCAT). To put it simply, the University of Ottawa offers admission to both Canadian and International medical students who have scored creditably on these two exams. This trend will continue for years to come because, according to statistics available at medschools.com, there has been a steady increase in interest for entry into Canadian medical schools by international students since they recognize their value and their potential in carrying out quality health care service throughout the world.
