MCCQE Exam- Part 1 and Part 2 Eligibility & Attempts

MCCQE part 1 application is available on regular basis and aspirants can apply through their physiciansapply.ca account. Note down that part 1 for this test will be offered via Prometric at the existing test centres or through remote proctoring. Candidates must take and clear MCCQE part 1 and MCCQE part 2 to get the LMCC. Canadian medical regulatory authorities may want candidates to have a Licentiate of the medical council of Canada to apply for the medical license within their country or state.

How to take part 1?

Candidates can apply for part 1 via the physiciansapply.ca account. If an applicant doesn’t have an account, he can create a physiciansapply.ca account and follow the steps after logging into the site. After paying the application charges, candidates will get the part-1 application. After approval, candidates will get a message via their physiciansapply.ca account.

Test at a glance-

Part-1 MCCQE for international students can be taken at any time. If an aspirant plans to request test accommodation, they are suggested to apply well in advance of when he would like to take the test, as coordination with MCC and Prometric is needed.

Sessions are conducted on weekdays via available exam centres and remote proctoring may hold test schedules on Saturdays or Sundays.

2021 session dates are- September 1 to September 22 and October 19 to November 9. The application is ongoing and the fee is $1.330.

    The eligibility requirements-

    Applicants can apply for the part 1 exam as medical graduates or students. The medical school must be accredited by CACMS or LCME, recognized by Canada sponsor Note in the world directory of medical schools, or accredited as US school of Osteopathic Medicine.

    To be eligible as a medical student-

    A candidate is eligible to apply 15 months before the expected graduation date. After the approval of the application, the applicant will have a 12-month eligibility window to plan the test date. During this eligibility window, the candidate may schedule a day as soon as 6 months before the first date of the test session.

    To be eligible as a medical graduate-

    The medical degree must be in progress of source verification or have been verified successfully.

    Limited attempts-

    A candidate can take MCCQE for international students test 1st part up to a maximum 4 times. The candidate won’t be able to retake the exam if he passes the result. A period of 1 year is needed between the 3rd and 4th attempt. After 4 attempts, in extraordinary personal cases, the applicant can submit a request for permission to make the 5th endeavor. Test attempts before 2k18 don’t count towards the overall limit. The number of attempt count begins in 2k18. The result of no standing won’t count as an endeavor. On the other hand, failing or denied standing will be counted as an attempt.

    Part-2-

    This is a test that must be completed successfully to ensure licensing in the full class for independent medical practice in BC. Over two days, this test assesses the medical capability via the chain of medical mock-up stations.

    Before a candidate takes MCCQE part 2, the aspirant needs to pass part 1 and complete 12 months of medical training. If one holds the complete set of US licensing exams, they need not have to appear for the MCC exam, including MCCQE part 1 and 2. There is a limited capacity for every test.
